VE Day, short for Victory in Europe Day, was the formal acceptance of surrender by the Allied forces, bringing an end to World War II in Europe, it celebrated the restoration of peace to Europe, this historic event took place on May 8, 1945, and was met with celebrations across the UK, the US, and other Allied nations.  The day is both a celebration and a moment of reflection, honouring the sacrifices made during the war.

On the 80th Anniversary the school children laid a wreath and read Churchill's address to the nation, a second wreath was laid on behalf ot the Parish and a wreath was added to the Village Cross.  The school children sang wartime songs in the Village Hall and in the evening a parade of lanterns travelled from the Village Hall to the Memorial Gardens
